Our Story

Tu Tiki was born out of frustration — and hope.

Everywhere I looked, I saw the tidal wave of single-use plastic overwhelming our planet. Bags tangled in trees, bottles washed up on beaches, wrappers clogging city streets. It wasn’t just “someone else’s problem.” It was my problem, your problem — our problem.

So I decided to own it.

I started Tu Tiki with one mission: to take the trash we’re drowning in and turn it into something bold, beautiful, and statement-making. Every Tu Tiki item is SUPcycled —upcycled from Single-Use Plastics and boldly printed with water-based inks. Each print depicts an infamous item in our broken recycling system: plastic bottles, straws, bags...

What was once waste now tells a story.

A story of responsibility, creativity, and change.

Tu Tiki is woman-owned, built for people who believe fashion should have a voice and a purpose. In February 2024, our vision was recognized in The Boston Globe — proof that this movement is bigger than just leggings.

We’re not just making sport wear. We’re building a community of SUPcyclers — people who wear the problem to own the solution.

Join us.

Wear the wave.

Be the change.

Our Production Ethos

At Tu Tiki, sustainability means respecting both the planet and the people behind our products. That’s why every pair of Tu Tiki leggings is crafted in fair-trade certified, globally respected facilities in Europe, the US, Bali or Mexico. Each of our suppliers signs an Anti-Slavery Certificate, guaranteeing ethical and humane practices.

Made On-Demand

With the exception of our premium Power Fit tights (wholesale only), all Tu Tiki SUPcycled activewear is made to order. Once you place your order, production begins.

On-demand production allows us to avoid overproduction, one of the biggest issues in fashion. Around 85% of textiles made by the fashion industry end up in landfills, making it a major contributor to environmental damage.

By producing only what our customers actually want, we ensure nothing goes to waste — and no leftover stock ends up in landfills.

Activewear Bali Collaboration (wholesale only)

Our Power Fit tights are made in collaboration with Activewear Bali, a benchmark company renowned for its commitment to ethical practices. Activewear Bali complies with all Balinese regulations on the fair treatment of employees and goes far beyond the basics:

Comprehensive healthcare for employees, their spouses, and up to three children — covering doctor’s visits, prescriptions, and hospitalizations.

13 months’ salary per year, including a double payment once a month to allow a 25-day annual vacation.

Optional overtime, paid at 1.5 – 3x the hourly rate.

Air-conditioned workspaces and conditions comparable to Western standards.

Ongoing financial support for the Bali Street Mums Project, empowering vulnerable women and children in the community.

We are proud to partner with a manufacturer whose values align with ours — ensuring your leggings support not only the planet, but also the people who make them.

Smarter, Cleaner Production

Tu Tiki also invests in cutting-edge technology to minimize waste and maximize quality:

SHIMA SEIKI seamless knitting machines — engineered for reduced waste and long-lasting durability.

Mimaki OEKO-TEX® certified dyes — vegan, water-based, and free of harmful chemicals.

ZÜND Swiss cutting systems — optimizing fabric yield and reducing textile waste.

JUKI industrial sewing machines — precision craftsmanship for premium performance wear.

Minimal Packaging — our mailers are made from post-consumer recycled/recycle-able plastic.

At Tu Tiki, every detail matters — from the threads in your leggings to the hands that make them.
